In their words
During my three years of taking lessons with Lucinda, I have learned so much from her. When we began meeting I did not feel confident in my voice, but now I have the technique and knowledge that makes me excited and prepared to share my singing with the world. I feel more comfortable stepping into auditions, ready to share my song and have fun.
Laney · 17, student
I started working with Lucinda back in 2025 because my friend had recommended her. She is not only a great teacher, but a caring person who takes the time to ask me about my week at the beginning of every lesson. Lucinda curates certain vocal warm ups that work my voice. She also explains why these vocal techniques work, which puts me in touch with my body. Finally, I have become so much more confident singing in front of people because of how supportive and encouraging she is.
Sienna · 15, student
I've been working with Lucinda for less than a year and I've improved like we've been working for years. She's a super fun and supportive teacher.
Georgia · 15, student
I have been performing in eight shows a week. I came to Lucinda with technique that worked until suddenly it didn't, and I was fairly panicked about it. She was kind about that and completely honest about what wasn't working, whilst being super supportive. She reassured me we were in this together and that I was going to be just fine. After a much shorter period of time than I expected, we rebuilt it properly rather than patching it. I trust my voice again, and I'd stopped expecting to.
Steven · 27, professional musical theatre performer
I've been writing and gigging for years, entirely on instinct, and I'd got quite good at hiding what I couldn't do. Lucinda spotted it in about ten minutes and wasn't remotely precious about it. She's kind but straight talking and really zones in on particular problem areas in songs to help me tackle the real stuff. The lessons are built around whatever I'm working on that week, so nothing feels like homework. The best bit is I can now figure out where I may be going wrong in gigs and rectify it myself.
Stefanie · 24, singer-songwriter
I'm in my forties and I've wanted to sing since I was nine. I'm an accountant and a perfectionist, which means I'm very comfortable being competent and very uncomfortable being a beginner. I would stop in the middle of a phrase the second I heard something I didn't like and start over.
Shelly · 46, accountant
I was really nervous about my audition for Arts Ed School because I'd never done one before and I didn't know what happens. Lucinda helped me pick my songs and we practised them loads. She showed me what to do with my hands so I wasn't just standing there, and she also pretended we were in the audition, helping me practise walking in and saying my name, which I thought was silly but it turned out to be the bit I was most scared of. I got in. My mum cried.
Adelaide · 11, student
Lucinda is wonderful! Our 17 year old daughter and 15 year old son have both taken singing lessons with her for the past 3 years. They have always loved performing and each wanted to develop a more versatile and confident singing voice. Lucinda has been incredible at meeting them where they are. She is wonderful with kids and teens and both of our kids have developed a warm, comfortable relationship with her.

Hello, I'm Lucinda.
I'm British, at home in San Francisco and London, and still performing. It's what keeps my teaching honest.
I've performed at Wembley Arena, the Royal Opera House, the Concertgebouw, festivals, jazz clubs, living rooms - from an intimate lounge of 20 people to 10's of thousands. Two albums on major labels (Sony / Island / Decca) and an independent EP. Stage and studio work with Annie Lennox, Rufus Wainwright, the Pet Shop Boys, Grace Jones, Gregory Porter, Natalie Cole, Seal and Robbie Williams. Signed songwriter with Universal, developing international acts. Oscar-longlisted for "Going Nowhere".
Every one of those stages has asked something different of my voice. That's what I bring to teaching: not theory, but what actually holds up on the night.
I've spent over 20 years coaching singers, from complete beginners to signed recording artists, and I'm known for an intuitive, embodied and creative approach - and for getting students through auditions. Confidence isn't a side effect of good technique. It's what technique is for. Well-rounded, applied technique builds confidence, and confidence builds empowerment.
Questions
We find where your voice is and start. You'll leave with something to practise. Nothing to prepare.
Yes. Works better than people expect.
I take students from around eleven.
Protecting the voice is half the job. SLS trains the whole range without pushing or forcing, so a singer builds strength without straining — which matters most when you're also singing in shows, choirs, bands or sessions, often without guidance. We work on breath support, easy transitions between registers, and warming up and cooling down properly. You'll learn to recognise the early signs of strain and what to do about them, and I'll flag anything that sounds like it needs a laryngologist rather than a teacher. I don't diagnose, and I don't push a voice through hoarseness or illness.
I need 24 hours' notice to reschedule free of charge. Less than that and the full lesson fee applies.
